The Pie Baking Class

Last week, I taught a pie baking class to a group of women. Not one of them had ever made pie crust or even a pie.

We started off with learning about how a pie crust works. The heat makes the butter in the crust let off steam and creates the flakiness.

They made their first pie crust with their hands. Crumbling the butter into their hands so they knew how the texture should feel.

Added water and patted into discs for the fridge.

Then we made a Blueberry Pie.

And a Strawberry Galette

And cherry pops.

And a fruit tart with a sweet crust.

And at last a Lemonade Refrigerator Pie with a graham cracker crust.
