I
can’t decide if this is dinner or brunch sandwich? I mean it is like a grilled
cheese but then again it is like French Toast. Therefore, I am going to serve
this for brunch on several occasions.
Lay
out the bread onto a board and spread mayonnaise out the sandwich.
Top
each sandwich with a slice of Gouda and a slice of turkey or ham.
Top
a third piece of bread onto one top of the bread.
Place
the other stack of the sandwich on top of the two slices of bread with the
cheese side down.
That
is an impressive sandwich!!!
Carefully
remove the crust and wrap the sandwich to refrigerate for at least thirty
minutes. We are trying to seal the sandwich because you are going to dip it
into an egg batter.
Combine the eggs and milk in a bowl.
Meanwhile,
heat the oil and butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Unwrap the sandwich
and dip it in the egg batter, to coat evenly.
Carefully
place the sandwich in the sauté pan and cook until golden brown about five
minutes.
Turn
and cook the other side for another five minutes.
Place
on a plate and cut in half, diagonally and sprinkle with confectionary sugar. I
place some jam on the side and serve it immediately.
