One of the best
things about Easter is the main star of the dinner, ham. Easter Ham is
beautiful and easy to cook. Even the most novice cooks can whip up a beautiful
ham.
This ham glaze is
one of my favorites. With pecans, the ham takes on a sweet taste and it looks
magnificent.
Place ham, fat
side down, in a 300 degree oven for approximately ten minutes per pound, or
about 2 ½ hours. I like to wrap the ham in a foil lined baking dish.
Baste with warmed
apple cider every thirty minutes, approximately two cups of apple cider.
Meanwhile,
combine 1 c. light brown sugar, 1 T. Dijon mustard and 1 ½ cups of finely
chopped pecans.
Forty minutes
before the ham is finished, pat the pecan sugar mixture all over the ham.
Return to the oven, turn the oven up to 325 degrees and bake until done.
The ham is
beautiful and delicious. I saved the reserved juices for the ham but you could
also make a gravy out of the delicious reserve.
Enjoy!!
