Red Velvet Brownies

You all know, I gave up candy for Lent.. well, I have had the worst sweet tooth. To cure my sweet tooth, unfortunately, I have been baking. But the treats have been incredible good. Seriously delicious. These red velvet brownies are no exception... absolutely delicious.

Melt a bittersweet chocolate bar and butter over a double boiler, I use a glass bowl. Once melted, add the sugar and remove from heat. Keep stirring the sugar until completely mixed. Allow to cool, slightly.

Next add four large eggs, one at a time, until thoroughly incorporated.

Add the flour. baking powder and salt. Stir until the dry ingredients are just mixed. Add one 1 oz. bottle of red food coloring and a teaspoon of vanilla.

Pour into a greased 9 inch square pan that has been lined with aluminum foil and lightly greased.

Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes or until the toothpick comes out with a few crumbs. Allow to cool completely for at least two hours. Remove from aluminum foil.

Top with a Cream Cheese frosting.....

Absolutely delicious.
