Crafting: A yard sale flag

I found this little neglected flag at a yard sale for $1.

I knew that I could easily transform it to work in the garden. Besides, I had red paint at home.

Now he has a new home and a fresh new look. Oh yeah, and it took 30 minutes to transform him.

Always look beyond what you find at a yard sale and see if you can help to make it great!!!!

  1. I am sure that if the person who sold that flag could see it now, they would be very surprised! Looks beautiful!!!

Love the pictures from yesterday's post! Your garden and back yard are beautiful!!! Enjoy your day!

  2. I went to a yard sale this weekend and bought a storage bench for $5.00! I am painting it and replacing hinges and using it on the porch to store my gardening supplies. Will blog about it soon. Are you proud of me?!?!

  3. Cynthia,

I would have thrown that Flag away...I would never thought even about putting it in a yard sale...and then, if I had seen it at a yard sale, I would never have thought about fixing it up...You are good, my friend!

Did you buy anything at Southern Market? I can NEVER go with out buying something...and I always save up some extra money before I go, and I don't (can't) take any credit cards in that place lol :)

Hope you have a great day. Nancy

  4. Cute! :o) Don't you love being able to create something lovely out of a cast off?

  5. I LOVE IT!!!

It reminds me of the section of stockade fence my sister painted into a huge American Flag -- sections of fencing she got in the trash -- HUGS flags she sold for $100 !!! She's pretty much amazing -- just like you!!!

    I missed ya!

  6. I'm so glad you rescued that flag. Old Glory look beautiful now! Linda

  7. It looks great!
I would have never thought of rescuing it like you!
